The standard of education is gradually improving and efforts are on to achieve global standard education to develop the students as competent workforces, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Saturday said.
“Our children are acquiring more knowledge on different disciplines of education as they are given various facilities,” he told the triennial conference of Bangladesh Physical Educationists Association (BPEA) here. The association organized the conference on the ground of Mohammadpur Govt. Physical Education College.
Chairman of Dhaka Education Board Prof Md Abu Bakkar Siddique, among others, addressed the conference with president of the association Md Ali Ajgar in the chair.
Nahid said the government has made physical education compulsory at primary and secondary levels and it is also working to make the physical education compulsory at higher secondary level.
As part of massive initiatives to boost education quality further, a large number of teachers across the country have been brought under training facilities to ensure their better contribution in the education sector, he added.
“We are offering special facilities for meritorious teachers to improve quality of education. As teachers are the main force for improving standard of education, we are also recruiting brilliant candidates for the teaching profession,” he added.
“Our children are extremely brilliant…If they are given adequate facilities, they will do better at international level, the minister added. A total of 23,500 multimedia classrooms have been set up at schools in order to introduce ICT-based education, Nahid said.
