StanChart PLC Group Chairman visits BD

Group Chairman of Standard Chartered PLC, José Viñals recently visited Bangladesh. During his visit, Viñals met a number of the Bank’s clients in Dhaka and Chottogram, through a series of meetings and client events. He also engaged with leading economists, senior diplomats, regulators and policymakers. In his conversations, he exchanged views on how Bangladesh can continue on its high growth trajectory and reiterated the Bank’s commitment to drive commerce and prosperity in Bangladesh, said a press release.
About José’s visit, Naser Ezaz Bijoy, Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bangladesh said, “the Bank has been proud to be a part of Bangladesh’s growth story for over 113 years. High-level visits such as this underlines the Bank’s continued focus on Bangladesh, and the Bank’s confidence in our nation’s economic prospects. José is an economist, and has spent 25 years at the Central Bank in Spain where he became the Deputy Governor. Subsequently he also played an important role in IMF during 2009 and 2016 where he was the Financial Counselors and the Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department.
