Stakeholders emphasise on skills to attract e-commerce investment

Through investing in e-commerce one can add to the country’s economic growth alongside adding to personal growth and entrepreneurs need to improve their skills in order to attract investment, said e-commerce stakeholders at a virtual seminar on Sunday.
The seminar titled “Direct Indirect Foreign Investment: Prospects in e-commerce sector in Bangladesh” was jointly organised by the Business Promotion Council and the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh, said a press release.
Addressing the seminar as the chief guest Abdur Rahim Khan, joint secretary at the ministry of commerce also the coordinator of the council at the seminar saidthat Bangladesh was an excellent location for investment.
The e-CAB president, Shomi Kaiser, said, “Domestic and foreign financial institutions should stand by local e-commerce entrepreneurs at a time when the sector is growing in Bangladesh. e-CAB is ready to assist both investors and entrepreneurs in this regard.
Mohammad Abdul Haque Anu,finance secretaryof the association, said, “We have witnessed weaknesses among entrepreneurs in preparing investment documents. As a result, they fail to attract investment and we have taken readiness programmes to address these issues.”
