Abdul Aziz, an office assistant, has been terminated while Joynal Abedin, Sylhet Deputy Commissioner withdrawn for attacking an Anti-Corruption Commission team, which went there and caught Abdul Aziz with cash bribe money.
Cabinet Division on Monday issued a gazette notification in this regard and formed a five-member probe body led by Additional Divisional Commissioner to investigate the incident. Five officials of ACC will also help the probe body.
On February 9 an ACC team led by Sylhet ACC office Director Sharmin Parvin went to the DC office and caught red- handed Abdul Aziz with bribe money.
As soon as the news spread, other staffs of the DC office snatched away Abdul Aziz from the ACC officials and beat them with iron road.
ACC Additional Deputy Directors Wahid Manjur Shohag and Ranjit Kumar Karmakar, its driver Biplob and police constable Misbah Uddin received serious injuries in the attack.
The ACC had filed a General Diary over the attack with the Kotwali Police Station in Sylhet.
