Staff Reporter :Injured Suraiya Akhter Risha died at length. The cruelty of the killer did not let her live long and the death left a message for the society to start social movement against the evils. Suraiya Akhter, a student of Class VIII, succumbed to her wounds at Intensive Care Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 8:30am on Sunday, Bachchu Mia, a Sub-Inspector of the hospital’s police outpost, told The New Nation.News circulating, the students of Willes Little Flower School staged demonstration in front of their school, protesting the pathetic death of their fellow, who struggled for life for four days after stabbed by a stalker in front of the school. Vehicular movement on the road at Kakrail remained suspended for seven hours in view of the demonstration by the students of the institution. The victim’s fellow students took to the streets and staged a sit-in, blocking the road demanding immediate arrest of the attacker, said Moshiur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Ramna Police Station.The classmates of Suraiya Akhter said that a youth barricaded her path and told to agree with his proposal on August 24. But Suraiya rejected and asked him to leave the spot at once. At one stage, the youth aged 22 to 24 stabbed her in the left abdomen and left hand and ran away. Later, her schoolmates rescued her from the spot and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.According to police, attacker Obaidul Khan, who used to disturb the girl, is yet to be arrested.Her family filed a case with the police station the same day naming Obaidul as the lone suspect.
