Staff Reporter :The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations-2016 under ten education boards will begin on February 1.A total of 13,04,274 students will appear at the examinations. Of them, 6, 42, 507 students are male and 6,61,767 are female. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid disclosed it while addressing at a press briefing in the conference room of the Education Ministry on Saturday.Education Secretary Md Sohrab Hossain, senior officials of the education ministry and chairmen of the different education boards, among others, were present at the briefing.Students of 28, 119 institutions will sit for the examinations in 3,143 centres and 404 students will take the examinations from eight centres abroad, the minister said. Written tests will be ended on March 8, while the practical ones between Mar 9 and 14.The minister said students with disability would get 20 extra minutes to complete examinations with the help of their scribes.Special children (autistic and down syndrome) will have extra 30 minutes will be allowed to be accompanied with parents, teacher or helper, said Nahid.The results will be announced within 60 days of the exams, he said, adding: “The BTRC will take immediate measures if questions are leaked in Facebook.”Meanwhile, Nurul Islam Nahid said no instruction has been given to examiners or teachers to give extra marks to students in the SSC and its equivalent examinations.”No instruction has been given to give extra or less marks. Students will get numbers what they deserve,” the minister told a press briefing at the ministry about the preparations of the SSC and its equivalent examinations scheduled to begin on February 1. On question paper leakage, he said: “There is no scope for leakage of question papers this year as we have taken all the necessary measures against it.” “Besides, the potential suspects who can leak questions are under observation,” he said.
