While enjoying boating, an SSC examinee drowned and his missing body was retrieved while his cousin was recovered alive recently.
The deceased was identified as Arafat Hossain, 18, an SSC examinee of Dhaka Board and son of Md Monir Hossain- a resident of Shendra village in Hajiganj Upazila.
The seriously injured youth was identified as Faruque Hossain,22, son of local UP member Abdul Momin Dulal of Luxmipur village. They were cousins..
Contacted, Deputy Assistant Director of Chandpur Civil Defense and Fire Station (Uttar) Farid Ahmed has said, ‘As soon as (around 7.30 pm) we got the report of missing of two youths in the dighi after their boat capsized and sank, we sent Rescue team and two divers -Moslem Miazi and Aminur Rahman to the spot and after two hours’ frantic search by them, one missing youth – Arafat was traced and recovered dead at around 10 pm. Arafat drowned while Faruque was recovered alive but too much injured, exhausted and wearied-said the divers- Moslem Miaji and Aminur Rahman.
