Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), Dhaka is organizing a presentation of Bharatnatyam and folk dance by Srishti Cultural Centre at 6:30 pm today at IGCC in Gulshan-1 in the city.
Founded in 1994 by Anisul Islam Hero, Srishti Cultural Centre has made a name for itself both locally and internationally, an Indian High Commission press release said.
In Bangladesh, the Centre has pioneered the use of classical Bharatanatyam and modern dance alongside established Bangladeshi dance forms.
Srishti has also performed in many international venues, including in Australia, the EU, Southeast Asia and the Subcontinent. Srishti has a strong commitment to humanity and society.
Through the medium of dance, the centre strives to promote awareness of social issues such as women’s rights, the environment, and HIV/AIDS.
Srishti has performed several times for the World and International AIDS conferences.
Anisul Islam Hero is a member of the International Dance Council of ITI Dhaka. He has received several awards for his works. Mr. Anisul Islam Hero began his training in dance at the Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts. He completed a Dance Certificate course on Bangladeshi Folk and Creative Dance. Later, he was trained under renowned Indian dancer Padmashree Leela Samson. Hero has been a part of the national delegation and performed at home and abroad. He has been working for social awareness, charity shows with several national and International NGOs.
He is a regular performer and choreographer of Bangladesh Television. He is also involved with various theatre groups as a teacher and choreographer.
