Sri Lanka Cricket team may come to Bangladesh in due time. The Islanders are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on May 8. Sri Lanka will come in Bangladesh to play two Test matches against Bangladesh. Besides, Sri Lanka will play a two-day practice match on May 11 and May 12 at MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram. The first Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be held on at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram from May 15 to May 19. The second Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka from May 23 to May 27.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nizamuddin Chowdhury said, ” The itinerary of two-Test match series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was decided after the understanding between the BCB and Sri Lanka Cricket. I think Sri Lanka Cricket will follow the plan. I also think Sri Lanka Cricket will send their team in due time.”
It may be mentioned that Sri Lanka is now suffering a serious economical disaster and food crisis.
The two Test matches between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is the part of ICC World Test Championship. Sri Lanka took the fifth position in the points table bagging 24 points from four matches, while Bangladesh took the eighth position earning 12 points from six matches.
The Asia Cup Cricket is scheduled to held in Sri Lanka on August 27 to September 11.
The BCB CEO said, ” If Sri Lanka Cricket states that it is not interested to host the Asia Cup, then, we shall give our proposal to arrange the Asia Cup.”
Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan will take part in the Asia Cup, the most prestigious cricket competition of Asian region.
