The election to Sreepur upazila parishad in Gazipur, which was originally scheduled for March 15, will now be held on March 31.
The Election Commission on Wednesday announced the fresh schedule for the election which was postponed in the wake of pre-polls clashes between two chairman candidates that killed one person and injured score others just three days before the voting.
The commission also sent a letter to the returning officer concerned to take necessary preparation for the arrangement of the election on March 31.
Four chairman contestants, six vice chairman
contenders and two women vice chairman candidates for the reserved posts are contesting the upazila polls.
Besides, the fifth phase elections to 74 other upazila parishads will be held on March 31.
