UNB, Tangail :A local leader of Sramik Dal was shot to death by miscreants at his own furniture shop at Sabalia Suruj Road in the district town on Tuesday.The deceased was identified as Golam Azam, 40, organising secretary of the district unit of BNP’s labour wing.Victim’s younger brother Ruhul Kuddus Mukul said a group of six criminals, riding on three motorbikes,swooped on the furniture shop of Azam at about 2 pm and stabbed him indiscriminately.At one stage, the attackers opened fire on the Sramik Dal leader, leaving him critically injured.He was whisked off to Tangail General Hospital where doctors referred him to Dhaka. Azam, however, died on the way to Dhaka at Mirzapur.
