Senior Supreme Court Lawyer, former lawmaker and former High Court Division Judge Md Tafazzal Hossain Khan (TH Khan) died in a hospital at Kalyanpur of capital Dhaka on Sunday afternoon. He was 102.
Supreme Court Bar Association secretary Ruhul Quddus Kazal said that the High Court would not sit for Monday, while the Appellate
Division will suspend its proceedings after holding morning sessions, to mourn the death of the legendary lawyer. Kazal said that his namaz-e-janaza would be held at 11:30am on Monday on the Supreme Court Bar Association premises.
Later his body will be taken to Oity village of Haluaghat upazila under Mymensingh district for burial.

He was admitted to the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital on Sunday morning in a critical condition. His son Afzal Hossain Khan, also a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court, informed that his father had passed away.
TH Khan, an eminent lawyer of the country, was born on October 21 in 1920 at the Oity village of Haluaghat upazila under Mymensingh district. He started his legal profession in 1947 and he was the most senior lawyer of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
He joined as a judge in the then East Pakistan High Court in 1968. But in 1973 he again started legal practice as a lawyer. In 1974 he became the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association. In 1979 he became a Parliament Member nominated by BNP and in 1981 he became a cabinet member.
In 1992 he founded Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, a forum of the pro-BNP lawyers, and till 2011 he was the President of the organization.
He was selected as a judge of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in 1995 and performed his duty for about four years.
He passed his matriculation in 1940 and intermediate in 1942 under Calcutta Education Board. He passed BA Honors degree from the Dhaka University in 1945 and MA in 1946. He got enrollment in the High Court in March 14 in 1951.
Senior Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain, Convener of the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum’s central committee, and Advocate Fazlur Rahman, Member Secretary of the Forum, have expressed their deep mourn at the demise of the veteran lawyer.
