Staff Reporter :Humam Quader Chowdhury, the son of death row convict war criminal Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury and BNP Standing Committee Member, was sent to jail on Saturday in connection with an attempted murder case.Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Meher Nigar Suchana passed the order rejecting his bail plea after Gulshan police produced him before court on Saturday afternoon.The court, however, fixed today (Sunday) to hear his bail petition.Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) spokesperson Muntasirul Islam said that he was arrested on Saturday in a case filed seven years ago over a skirmish at Dhaka’s Gulshan.Earlier, Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nur-e-Azam Mia said that Humam was arrested at around 10:30am from his Dhanmondi residence in connection with the case.He was arrested from his Dhanmondi residence after an arrest warrant was issued in a case Under Sections 323 and 307 of CrPC filed with Gulshan police station, the OC said.The case was filed against him with Gulshan Police Station in July 2008, said Farid Mia, court police.He said that, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court-4 issued the warrant as the case is pending under the court. Metropolitan Magistrate Meher Nigar Suchana ordered Humam to be jailed after he was produced in her court in the afternoon.
