Staff Reporter: War criminals Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed have finally decided to seek presidential clemency as part of their last ditch legal effort to escape executions, jail authorities said. The Dhaka Central Jail sources have confirmed this to New Nation on Saturday afternoon. Earlier in the morning two magistrates have entered Dhaka Central Jail to meet death-row war criminals Jamaat-e-Islami senior leader Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mojaheed and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury. The duo reached the jail around 9:30am to ask Mojaheed and SQ Chy whether they would seek presidential clemency. Magistrates have discussed the issue with both of them and they have positively responded to them for seeking president pardon, according to jail authorities. “Measures will be taken according to law as they the death row convicts have finally sought president clemency,” said a senior official of Dhaka Central Jail.
