The present government has put proper importance on spreading and popularising science and technology-based modern education among youngsters for faster national advancement. Government officials and educationists this at a prize distribution function of the divisional level science affairs seminar and quiz competitions held at Zila School auditorium in Rangpur recently as the chief guest.
The divisional administration organised the events aiming at inspiring young students in science and technology-based modern education for more innovations befitting for the 21st century.
Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Joynul Bari attended the function as the chief guest with Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md. Zakir Hossain in the chair. Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana addressed as special guest.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) for Rangpur Sharif Md. Foyezul Alam delivered the keynote presentation.
Principal of Rangpur Police Lines School and College Professor Dr KM Jalal Uddin Akbar, Principal of Rangpur Government Rokeya College Professor Mofakhkharul Islam and Principal of BM Model College Tanzima Haque spoke. Eight teams of students from different secondary level educational institutions of all eight districts under Rangpur division participated in the events.
The teams of Syedpur Technical High School in Nilphamari and Rangpur Cantonment Public School and College became the champions and runners-up in the competitions.
The speakers said sustainable national development would not be achieved without spreading science and technology- based education among young generations in the present competitive world.
By virtue of science and digitised information and communication technologies, the country is moving ahead and common people are getting government services easily from the Union Digital Centres and web portals at upazila and district levels, they said.
The chief guest said popularisation of science and technology-based modern education has become imperative to attain self-sufficiency in all spheres of national life for building a middle income nation by 2021 and developed Bangladesh by 2041 Later, he distributed certificates, crests and cheques among winner teams of the competitions.
