Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzaman Mia said, it is a crime to spread rumour of terror attack in any part of the country.
A vested group has been gossiping through social media that the terrorists may strike different establishments and public places again at any time within few days. The spreaders will be brought to the book.
Asaduzzaman warned of stern action against those involved in spreading rumour of terror attack.
He told these to a group of reporters in his office on the city’s Minto Road after a meeting with a Japanese delegation on Thursday morning.
“We are committed to resist all those, who have been trying to prove Bangladesh as a failed state,” the DMP Commissioner said.
Citing Gulshan café attack, he said, those, who were involved in recruiting the attackers, funding and training them, would be brought to justice.
He also said, police have in their hands information about the patronisers of the Gulshan attackers. Those will not be published now for the sake of investigation.
The DMP boss requested the city residents not to pay heed to any rumour of terror attack, but to inform police about them who spread it.
