Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Shamsul Arefin has stressed on spreading the liberation war sprit among the youths. He said, “The youths should know the actual history of our liberation war and our national heroes who fought in 1971 for independence of the country.”
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of story-telling on liberation war of 1971 by the freedom fighters at Government Commerce College in the port city on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Shamsul Arefin said, “The students should be inspired on the basis of patriotism by hearing the stories of liberation war of 1971 from the lips of the freedom fighters.”
Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, Chittagong district committee Shahabuddin addressed the function and described his participation in liberation war in the program.
He said, only the braves went to liberation war risking of their lives.” He said, “I went to liberation war after hearing the speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The speech of Bangabandhu on March 7, in 1971 inspired me to jump in fight for independence.”
The function was presided over by Principal of Government Commerce College in the port city Prof Ayub Bhuiyan. Among others Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, Chittagong city committee Mozaffar Ahmed, Vice Principal Prof Ferdous Ara Begum, Prof Mohammad Nurul Islam Chowdhury, Ward Councilor Abdul Kader, Sabbir Ahmed and Tauhidul Kabir addressed the function.
Chittagong district administration starts the program of story telling of liberation war in 1971 by the freedom fighters at the educational institutions. Following the program, the young students of Hajera Taju Degree College, Pahartoli College heard the stories of the liberation war directly from freedom fighter in the month of victory.
