Speakers at a views-sharing meeting here have stressed for spontaneous payment of income tax to strengthen national economy in accelerating development in building a middle income Bangladesh by 2021.
Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) organised the meeting at its Board Room on Wednesday with income tax officials on the ‘Income tax Fair-2014’ to be organised here by Rangpur Zonal Tax Commissioner’s Office from September 16 to 22 next.
With RCCI President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu in the chair, Assistant Tax Commissioners of Rangpur Zonal Tax Commissioner’s Office Md Shamsul Haque and Nur-E-Alam attended the meeting as the invited guests.
The Income Tax Officials will assist tax payers in submitting income tax returns, registration and re-registration of E-Tax Identification Number (TIN) and other facilities at the fair to be arranged at Rangpur Zila Parishad Community Centre in the city.
Senior Vice-president of RCCI Mostoba Hossain Ripan, its Directors Enamul Haque Sohel, Fazlul Haque, President of Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RWCCI) addressed the meeting citing various aspects of the upcoming income tax fair.
RCCI Directors Shah Mohammad Selim, Manjur Ahmed Azad, Reaz Shaheed Suman, Akbar Ali, Mozammel Haque Dambel, Rabi Somani, Senior Vice-president of RWCCI Shahanaz Parveen, its Vice-president Morsheda Khatun, Directors Zakia Ahsan and Ummey Kulsum and Rangpur Office Coordinator of Asia Foundation Mahmuda Begum Sharifa also addressed.
The speakers called for making the tax payments system easier asked all concerned for coming forward spontaneously in paying income taxes by availing various facilities being provided by the government through National Board of Revenue in a hassle-free manner.
They said the national economy would be strengthened removing dependence on foreign loans for conducting national developments if all bigger, medium and small-scale taxpayers would pay their respective tax spontaneously.
There are many people eligible now for paying income tax under the present improved socioeconomic scenario and the nation might need no foreign assistance and loan in near future for its developments if everybody properly pays income tax.
The senior income tax officials said the government has eased tax payment process with modernisation of tax fixation and payment methods to make it more realistic with change in mindsets of the concerned officials for enhancing revenue collection.
