Spl security for Eid, Puja in Sylhet

The Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) has decided not to allow any rawhide-carrying vehicle to leave the capital for three days following Eid-ul-Azha to prevent rawhide smuggling to a neighbouring country.
The SMP Commissioner said this while addressing a press briefing at SMP media and community centre on security measures ahead of Durga Puja and Eid-ul-Azha. He said that no vehicles carrying rawhide would not able to go out of Sylhet.
Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated on October 6, when millions of animals are sacrificed across the country, including Sylhet, generating huge rawhides and many hides are smuggled out of the country. Before the remark of SMP, an intelligence agency submitted their probe report about raw hide smuggling using 13-route to Bangladesh neighbouring country. Besides this the SMP has taken a foolproof security measures.
The SMP Commissioner about the security measurement said extensive security measures have been taken to tackle the security challenge ahead of Durga Puja and Eid festivals.
The SMP Commissioner said police forces will be deployed at 567 Puja Mandaps set up in the Sylhet from September 29. Police will keep sharp vigilance on city roads as well as set up check points at important spots to ensure the security during the Eid and Puja celebrations,
he said.
They will also look after the security of the huge cattle-carrying trucks which are expected to entre the city ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, said Benazir, adding that police forces will remain deployed round the clock at 6 cattle markets — 10 temporary and 1 permanent ones-across the city, he added.
The SMP commissioner urged people to remain alert of dope gangs. Our officials already taken initiatives to stop their activities and already a number of people arrested followed by special drive, he said.
Police will also remain alert at important shopping centres of the city, he said.
