Special prayers were offered in all primary schools across the country on Monday for salvation of the seven schoolchildren who died in a tragic road accident in Chougachha upazila of Jessore on Saturday night.
The prayers were also aimed at seeking blessings of the Almighty for early recovery of the injured schoolchildren.
The seven students of Benapole Primary Government School drowned and 40 others
injured as a bus carrying them plunged into a pond at Jhautola in Chougachha upazila on Jessore-Meherpur Highway on Saturday night.
The schoolchildren were returning home from a picnic when the tragedy struck them.
Meanwhile, the entire Benapole was still filled with gloom following the tragic death of the students.
On the other hand, Benapole municipality was observing a three-day mourning programme beginning on Sunday.
The national flag was hoisted half-mast in all educational institutions and business establishments in Sharsha to mourn the irreparable deaths.
Besides, a one-minute silence was observed after assemblies in all the schools under the upazila.
