Senior journalists and leaders of the community on Monday joined a special prayer seeking eternal blessing for former President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Altaf Mahmud, who passed away last month.
Dhaka-based Patuakhali Journalist Forum (PJF) organized the milad mahfil where the journalists also recalled with emotion the memories of their beloved leader who died of cardiac problems at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital on January 24.
General Secretary of Jatiya Press Club Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, former BFUJ secretary general Abdul Jalil Bhuyian, executive member of BFUJ Swapon Das Gupta, former general secretary of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), organizing secretary of DUJ Sohel Haider Chowdhury, PJF general secretary M Sahidul Islam Rana spoke on the occasion.
PJF President and JPC executive member Hasan Arefin presided over the condolence meeting which was followed by the milad at the JPC auditorium.
They recalled Mahmud’s uncompromising role in upholding the dignity of the journalist community and contribution towards ensuring their rights.
