The police has decided to conducts special drives across the country to check crimes such as snatching, robbery, extortion and illegal drugs trading ahead of the holy month of Ramzan.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Md Javed Patwary asked the concerned officials of police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to conduct nationwide special drives aimed at controlling crimes and drugs trading ahead of the Ramzan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
The directives came from a meeting of the high officials of police on law and order and traffic management ahead of Ramzan and Eid at Police Headquarters on Sunday with the police chief presiding.
Law enforcers have also been asked to take necessary measures aimed at maintaining the law and order across the country alongside with ensuring safe journey of the home goers ahead of Eid.
Highway and district police have also been asked to take appropriate measures to ease the nagging traffic snarl and robbery on the highways.
Among others, Additional Inspector General (admin) Md Mukhlesur Rahman, Director General (DG) of RAB Benazir Ahmed, Additional IGP (HRM) Md Mohsin Hossain, Addl IGP (finance) Md Mainur Rahman Chowdhury, Addl IGP of Railway Police Mohammad Abul Kashem, Director General (DG) of Industrial Police, Abdus Salam, Addl IGP of Anti-Terrorism Unit, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam and Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Asaduzzaman Mia, were present at the meeting.
All the police commissioners, Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) of different police units, police supers of Dhaka, Gazipur,Tangail, Munshiganj, Manikganj, Cumilla, and Narayanganj and representatives from NSI, DGFI, Ansar and VDP and Fire Service and Civil Defence, also attended the meeting.
