Barishal Correspondent :
Bangladesh economy is expanding with a steady GDP growth rate of 8.1 percent but it fails to ensure full implementation of budget as the project works are often delayed resulting in rise in expenditure and causing misuse of public fund.
All concerned should work sincerely for speeding up project implementation and maintaining their quality for achieving the government’s target of graduating Bangladesh to a developed country by 2041.
Abul Mansur Md Faizullah, Secretary of Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of Planning Ministry, made this observation while speaking at a workshop as the chief guest at Circuit House in Barishal on Monday.
Mentioning that the country is advancing towards achieving Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s target for establishing a developed country by 2041, he said the present rate of project implementation is not satisfactory and it should be accelerated.
The workshop was organized by CPTU under Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project (DIMAPPP) of the World Bank and facilitated by Bangladesh Center for Communication Program (BCCP).
SM Ajior Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Barishal, presided over the workshop while Mohammad Yamin Chowdhury, Divisional Commissioner and AKM Fazlul Karim, Public Policy Implementation Advisor of IMED, among others, spoke.
The IMED secretary said the concerned officials are mainly responsible for slow progress in ADP implementation and rise in project costs and urged them to come out of this bottle necks.
