Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said the government is making a specific policy for educational institutions in the Monthly Payment Order (MPO) to groom the new generation as worthy citizens.
“We will have to attain this goal by 2030. For this, enhancing quality of education and developing efficient teachers are required,” he said this on Saturday while speaking as chief guest at a seminar on ‘Specific Policy for Inclusion of Educational Institutions in MPO’ at NAEM auditorium in the city.
Organized by Secondary Education Sector Investment Programme, the seminar was presided over by Education Secretary M Nazrul Islam Khan. Department of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Director General Prof. Fahima Khatun presented a keynote paper in the seminar.
The education minister said along with skilled teachers, adequate budget allocation is necessary to improve quality of education.
“Quality of teachers would have to be increased to improve standard of education. At the same time, there should be guarantee of handsome salaries to retain qualified teachers,” he added. Stressing the need for more allocation in the national budget for education, Nurul Islam Nahid said his ministry is continuing its demand to the government in this regard.
He said many problems and complications would be resolved, if the policy for MPO could be finalized.
In the function, the education minister inaugurated online and SMS-based admission procedure of higher secondary level for 2015-16 academic year.
He said the SMS based admission system will not be in force from next year. There will be only online admission system as it costs less, he added.
