Kishoreganj district administration has started special drive in the district town and others upazilas on Sunday to ensure smooth observance of celebration of Durga Puja and Holy Ashura.
The special operation has been continuing since October, 24 said Police official.
Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community is going to start Sunday and it will end on the night of October 23 through idol emersion, while the holy Ashura , a religious mourning day for the Muslims will be observed on October 24.
Police Super Anowar Hossain Khan said that law enforcement including the DB were asked the collect information if there is any threat to destabilize the district over two religious programmes.
 A total of 357 Puja mondaps have been set up by the Hindu community in the district this year.
 Kishoreganj Sadar 54, Hossainpur 14, Karimganj 10, Pakundia 16, Katiadi 43, Bajitpur 58, Kuliarchar 24, Bhairab 21, Itna 29, Nikli 15, Mitamoin 11, Austagram 48 and Tarail 14 of the district.
Sylhet Correspondent reports: Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) will start a special drive in the Sylhet early Sunday to ensure smooth observance of Holy Ashura and celebration of Durga Puja.
The special operation will continue till October 21, a SMP senior official told.
Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, will start on Sunday and it will end on the night of October 22 through idol emersion, while the holy Ashura, a religious mourning day for the Muslims, will be observed on October 24.
The SMP official said law enforcement agencies, including the Detective Branch (DB), were asked to collect information if there is any threat to destabilise the Sylhet over the two religious programmes.
Law enforcers were also instructed to take instant action against any possible untoward incident during Durga Puja as well as Tajia procession commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the official said preferring not to be named.
Besides, the drive will be launched against listed criminals and illegal firearms in the capital, he added.
