Special drive to free Magura from drugs

As a part of making free Magura from drugs according to the government decision , District Police has taken special programme and in the meantime Shalikha Upazila has been declared drug-free in the district .
Besides, within two months four upazilas will declared drug-free and drugs worth Tk one crore were seized and 500 drug traders have been arrested so far to achieve the goal.
Police sources said, an environment has been created in the district and 382 cases have been filed in 2018 and all previous record has been surpassed .
Magura Police Superintendent Khan Mohammad Rezwan informed that at the instruction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, special drive is being launched to free Magura from drugs and so far at least 500 drives have been launched and 496 identified drug peddlers have been arrested in 2018.
On the other hand, 820 grams heroin , 2187 bottles of pensidyal . 38 kgs ganja , 9009 pieces of yaba , 53 liters local wine and 1o bottles foreign wine have been seized .
He also said, in the last year five drug traders were killed in internal clash and 10 cases against each persons .
Khan Mohammad Rezwan further said, incentives were given to 819 police personnel to encourage them with a view to making the programme a success . Each police member got Tk 2000 to 20,000 and citations were also given to them for their outstanding contributions.
Magurra Deputy Commissioner Ali Akbar said, the Government has declared zero tolerance against drug and we are committed to build drug-free Magura district .
 Principal Anisur Rahman Khokon, Convener of Magura District Conscious Citizen Committee said, police has achieved massive success in the anti-drug drive and people from all walks of life should come forward to make the programme a success .
