Speakers in a function said it is urgent to bring the orphan families in mainstream economic activities to gear-up overall development of the country.
“The orphans should not be ignored. We should adopt various ways to increase their dignity to bring their families under different social safety network so that they will be part of the mainstream economy gradually,” said Planning Minister MA Mannan in a function in a Dhaka hotel on Tuesday night.
Islamic Relief, UK organised the function to celebrate its capturing the prestigious ‘Bond International Development Award 2019’.
Akmal Shareef, Country Director, Islamic Relief Bangladesh presided over the programme.
Ainul Kabir, Additional Secretary of Women and Children Affairs Ministry, Sushanta Kumar Pramanik, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare, Ambassador Munshi Faiz Ahmad and Chairman to the Board of Governors
Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other higher officials were present.
The minister and other speakers congratulated Islamic Relief for its achievement of the ‘Bond International Development Award 2019’
They also appreciated Islamic Relief’s broad work in the field of orphans and women empowerment and asked to extend and to continue such activities.
