Speakers at a discussion here Sunday termed the skilled youth forces as the driving force for ensuring sustainable development in the country.
They viewed utmost emphasis should be given on transforming them into competent human resources. All the government and non-government agencies concerned should come forward and work together to attain the cherished goal.
District Administration and Department of Youth Development (DYD) jointly organised the discussion at the office conference hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) to mark the National Youth Day-2020.
On the occasion, 10 trained youths were given bank cheques worth Taka 4.90 lakh besides distributing crests among the successful youths. Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Humayun Kabir Khandaker and Deputy Inspector General of Police of Rajshahi Range Abdul Baten addressed the discussion as the chief and special guests respectively with DC Abdul Jalil in the chair.
Deputy Director of DYD Golam Mahbub welcomed the participants. The speakers laid emphasis on transformation of youth into the worthy citizen through giving quality education alongside developing a sense of patriotism.
Humayun Kabir Khandaker said the present government has been imparting the youths with diversified time-fitting training aimed at bolstering the nation-building participation through bringing back the unemployed youths to the mainstream of development.
The youths are being self-reliant through providing loans who are adopting post-training projects.
Kabir Khandaker also stressed the need for building the youths as a skilled workforce through imparting them with different vocational training.
He viewed that many of the youths became derailed due to lack of proper care and nursing and ultimately they became a burden on society.
Besides, he urged the youths to extend their whole-hearted cooperation to the law enforcement agencies for protect the young generation from drug abuse.
