Speaker visits Singapore parliament

Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Wednesday visited Singapore Parliament and exchanged views with deputy speaker Lim Biow Chuan there on parliamentary process of the two countries and issues of mutual interest.
She also visited a housing project for low-income elderly people, said a Parliamentary Secretariat handout.
The Speaker visited Mountbatten to see the housing project at the constituency of Singapore Deputy Speaker Lim Biow Chuan on his invitation.
The Singapore Deputy Speaker praised Bangladesh for successfully hosting the 63rd Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference and 136th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly.
He said Bangladesh showed the global community its capacity with successful arrangement of the conferences of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and IPU.
Dr Shirin went to Singapore on Sunday and is expected to return home on Friday.
