Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Saturday called upon entrepreneurs of all educational institutions to work together to develop a new generation enriched with knowledge and human values.
She made the call speaking as chief guest at a seminar on ‘Role of Private University in the Development of Higher Education in Bangladesh: Challenges and Prospects’ at a hotel in the city.
Eastern University organized the seminar marking the completion of its 13 years.
The speaker said, along with the public institutions, the private educational institutions are doing a great job by paving the way of higher education for the country’s meritorious students.
Referring to the high cost of education at private institutions, she suggested the authorities to be pragmatic and not to do excess business.
The speaker said the existing disparity in education and social system must be eliminated for the welfare of the country.
Bangladesh is now marching forward, she said and called for creating proper opportunities for the youth and ensuring quality education for them to build ‘Sonar Bangla’ of Bangabandhu’s dream.
Presided over by Eastern University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, the seminar was also addressed by Dhaka University Professor Emeritus Dr. Anisuzzaman, Eastern University Trustee Board Chairman Abul Khayer Chowdhury, Information Technology (IT) Expert Mostafa Jabbar and Eastern University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury.
