Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury underscored the need for keeping different residential and official areas clean to prevent dengue.
“Keeping your respective areas clean will play an important role in preventing and controlling the dengue outbreak”, the Speaker said this on Monday while visiting the prevailing clean-up campaigns in Sangsad Bhaban, NAM Bhaban and Parliamentary Secretariat Residential Complex areas.
“The parliament members are working to create public awareness in their respective areas…Dengue will not spread if we keep our respective areas clean”, Dr Shirin added.
She underscored the need for further developing the existing waste management and drainage system in various areas and urged the residents to continue the clean-up campaign and maintain the hygiene in their respective localities.
Shirin also ordered the officials concerned to remove the unused furniture or objects from the JS area.
Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury, Jatiya Sangsad whips – Md Atiur Rahman Atik and Iqbalur Rahim, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Disaster Management and Relief AB Tajul Islam, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Ministry Md. Shamsul Haque Tuku and senior secretariat officials were also present, at the ceremony.
