Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday called on India’s Lok Shabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan at her office in New Delhi.
During the meeting, they discussed on the National Conference of Lawmakers of India, Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Youth Road Show,
the upcoming CPA conference in Bangladesh, an official release said.
Besides, issues like South Asian Speakers’ Conference, role of Lok Shabha and Rajya Shabha in signing the land boundary agreement between Bangladesh and India, establishing good governance also came up in the discussion. Lauding the National Conference of Women Lawmakers of both the House in India, Dr Chaudhury said, “The conference would play a vital role to establish good governance in India, help empowerment of women and overall development of the country.”
She said, Bangladesh has introduced Youth Road Show on Parliamentary Democracy, arranged by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) aiming to make the young generation aware of parliament, its businesses and democracy. The show would be run in other countries under the patronization of Commonwealth, she added.
