Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and CPA Chairperson Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury returned home on Friday night after attending the international conferences in Washington.
According to a release, the Speaker attended the Parliamentary Workshop, organised by Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF in Washington DC.
She also addressed a briefing on “Rohingya Crisis and Humanitarian Aid in Bangladesh” as the special guest, organised by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Chamber at the United Nations Headquarters, New York.
The Speaker urged the global community for taking effective and permanent measures to resolve the Rohingya crisis.
Later, she met with former UN Secretary General and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Rakhine State Kofi Anan and discussed the Rohingya issue.
Dr Shirin held meeting with the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka on October 17.
Parliament secretary and officials concerned welcomed the Speaker at Hazrat Shahajalal International Airport.
