Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and Chairperson, Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury returned home on Monday morning from New York concluding her official visit to USA and UK.
She attended different programmes marking ‘Commonwealth Day’ and ‘International Women’s Day’ in the UK, said an official release. During her visit to the US, the speaker took part in a dialogue on ‘Women’s Political Leadership in Developing Democracy and Development in Africa’.
She participated in the 13th meeting of Commonwealth Gender Plan of Action Monitoring Group (CGPMG) on March 14. She also attended different programmes organized by the CPA and exchanged views with UN Women and other organizations. Chief Whip ASM Firoz, senior officials of JS secretariat were present at the airport to receive the Speaker at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
