Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Ekushey Padak recipient and valiant freedom fighter poet Rafiq Azad.
In a condolence message, the Speaker said “Poet Rafiq Azad was a honourable poet and valiant freedom fighter. He was a humanitarian poet. He had worked for long for the welfare of the people. The death of the poet is an irreparable loss for the arena of literature.”
Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad M Fazley Rabbi Mia and Chief Whip ASM Feroz also expressed deep shock and conveyed sympathy to his bereaved family members.
