Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and Chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Friday urged CPA and Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of The Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) to work together for establishing good governance across the world.
“CPA and IPA CIS should work jointly to establish good governance across the world as these two international organizations have the same ideals and values,” she said.
She was speaking at the inaugural session of 44th Plenary Session of the IPA CIS at Tavricheskiy Palace in Saint Petersburg, said a press release.
Speaker of Russian Federation and Chairperson of IPA CIS Valentina Matviyenko presided over the session.
“Challenges of women empowerment, gender equality, development of youth, establishment of human rights, social security are almost same in every country … So, CPA and IPA CIS should work jointly and exchange their experiences,” she said.
“Climate change and biodiversity are great challenges for every country, especially to the countries adjoining coastal belt and islands…So, all international organizations have to work jointly,” she added.
IPA President Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Whip of Jatiya Sangsad Iqbalur Rahim also spoke.
