Speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury Tuesday called for optimum utilization of the opportunities for empowering women in the society.
“There is no reason now for the women to remain behind anymore, only for being a women, as the nation has already marched much ahead and achieved tremendous success in every sector including education, health and gender equity,” she said.
She was addressing a discussion on the occasion of a reception and prize distribution function at Kochhimon Nesa Girls’ High School in Pirganj upazila as the chief guest.
Headmaster of the school Anwarul Islam Manu presided over the discussion participated by students, teachers, guardians, officials, leaders of Awami League (AL) and its front organisations, civil society members, professionals and local elite.
UNO of Pirganj ATM Ziaul Islam, Vice-president of district AL AKM Chhayadat Hossain Bakul, its Cultural secretary Shahidul Islam Pintu, President of Pirganj upazila AL Motaharul Haque Bablu and its General Secretary Tanzibul Islam Shamim, Addressed.
Senior AL leaders Mokarrom Hossain Chowdhury Jahangir, Rawshan Ara Wahed, Moynul Islam Lavlu, Haifuzzaman Ful, Hasanuzzaman Khan Faruk, member of the school governing committee Advocate Abu Sufian Hiru also spoke on the occasion.
