Speaker for proper care to make youths as worthy citizens

Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury stressed the need for proper care and inspirations for the youths to groom them as worthy citizens.
“Inclusive equality will be established if everyone in society work together for building a hunger and poverty-free Bangladesh and the young generation can play a vital role to this end,” she said this on Friday while speaking at an international conference at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban at Dhaka University.
DU Department of Social Science (DSS) organized the conference titled “South Asian Sociology and Beyond” marking its 60th anniversary.
International Sociological Association former president and eminent sociologist Professor TK Oommen presented a key-note paper with DSS Chairperson Professor Nehal Karim in the chair.
Dhaka University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Nasrin Ahmed, eminent sociologist Professor KAM Saduddin, Professor Anupam Sen and Professor Manirul Khan, among others, also addressed the conference while Dean of Social Science Faculty Professor Sadeka Halim delivered the welcome speech.
Chaudhury said there is no alternative to practicing social science to understand a society.
She urged the teachers and students to give more attention to practice and research of social science.
