Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Speaker and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Chairperson Dr. Shirin Sharmin Choudhury on Tuesday called upon all concerned to work together to make the activities of CPA more dynamic and visible to attain its objectives.
She was speaking at a meeting of CPA at Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia.
Dr. Shirin Sharmin said the member countries have to work together with an action plan to face the global challenges and make the CPA more dynamic.
Focusing on the role of new general in development, she said the young parliament members should be given scopes to work in all areas in future.
She hoped that the leadership of young MPs would be more dynamic in CPA member countries in the days to come.
Dr. Shirin Sharmin said the CPA is working to increase political leadership of women to make them more efficient and more conscious.
She called for establishing gender parity by ensuring political leadership of women in the grassroots level.
The CPA chairperson said the MPs have a big role to play to ensure sustainable development facing the current global challenges, she said.
It would be possible to attain sustainable development goal, if the MPs work integrating themselves with development activities, she added.
The speaker said the people’s representatives in Commonwealth countries would have to play a more effective role to take forward the development process of their countries.
