Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury Sunday said attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) could be easier through enhancing efficiency of members of parliament (MPs).
“Progress has already been made in the implementation of SDGs under the special supervision and direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” she said this while inaugurating a workshop as the chief guest at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
The Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) jointly organised the day-long workshop titled ‘Enhancing Members of Parliament’s Leadership on Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development Contribution to SDGs Attainment in Bangladesh”.
UNDP’s Parliamentary Advisor (Bangkok Regional Hub) Dania Ghimici delivered the speech on ‘Role of Parliament for Implementation SDGs 2030 and Strategic Advisor of UNDP Bangladesh Radwan Mujib Siddiq spoke on SDG: Perspective Bangladesh.
Pointing out that Bangladesh will be able to achieve the target of SDGs by 2030, the Speaker said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present when the United Nations fixed its target of the MDGs and SDGs. “A few politicians get chance of this rare opportunity,” she added.
