Speaker of the National Parliament and Chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Executive Committee, Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Thursday laid emphasis on empowering women in every sector like financial, social and political to ensure real empowerment for them.
She was speaking at ‘Policy Breakfast’ organized by National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) at a city hotel.
“Bangladesh now became a role model in political empowerment of women. The country has set a milestone in ensuring women representation in grassroots politics. We now have to create more women entrepreneurs and employment opportunities for the women,” she said.
Nijera Kori coordinator Khushi Kabir conducted the function while NDI resident director Rishi Dutta gave welcome speech.
