Speaker for building enlightened nation with utmost dedication

Speaker of the Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Wednesday called upon all to devote themselves following Bangabandhu’s ideology for the formation of an enlightened nation. “We are celebrating the golden jubilee of independence with many achievements…To enhance the development of the country I want to urge all to embrace the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” she said.  
She was speaking virtually as the chief guest at a function organized by Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPI), Dhaka Ahsania Mission and CSO Alliance marking the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence, said a press release.
“Bangabandhu made primary education compulsory and unpaid, as he believed that investing in education was the best investment”, she said. “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had made the education of girls up to eighth standard unpaid… Fifty years ago today, he was very much aware of gender equality and education of boys as well as girls,” she said.
“Bangabandhu emphasized the importance of education and he formed the Kudrat-i-Khuda Education Commission to formulate a national education policy”, Speaker said.  
“The present government has formulated the National Education Policy 2010 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and achieved significant success in the field of primary education, gender equality in education”, she added.

Chowdhury, the program was addressed by Arma Dutta MP, Channel I Head of News Shaikh Seraj as the special guest. Dr Manzur Ahmed, Kazi Faruk Ahmed, Mansur Ahmed Chowdhury, Khandaker Golam Moazzem, among others, spoke on the occasion.
