Speaker attends 64th C’wealth Parliamentary Conference

The 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) arranged jointly by Uganda’s Parliament and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) was inaugurated on Thursday at Kampala. The programme was inaugurated by the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, said a press release here.
Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury was present at the inauguration programme.
Whip Iqbalur Rahim, members of parliament Vice-Principal Md Abdus Shahid, Md Abu Zahir, Mohammad Nazrul Islam and Shirin Ahmed were also present as part of the Bangladeshi delegation.
Speaker of Parliament of Uganada and CPC President Rebeka Kadga and Deputy Speaker of Cameroon and CPA President Amelia Lifaka spoke in the conference, among the Commonwealth Speakers, Deputy Speakers and Parliament Members. This year, the theme of the conference was ‘Adaption, engagement, and evolution of parliaments in a rapidly changing Commonwealth’.
 The CPA is an international organization of the Commonwealth Parliaments. Founded in 1991, the organization is working to consolidate and enhance parliamentary democracy.
