The Central Coast Mariners have signed former Spanish international Luis Garcia until the end of the Australian A-League season, the club said Saturday.
Garcia, 37, a UEFA Champions League winner with Liverpool, recently played in Australia as a part of the Liverpool Legends match and will boost the struggling Mariners outfit.
“I am delighted to be joining a club like the Central Coast Mariners,” Garcia said in a statement.
“This is an exciting challenge for me to play in the A-League and with such a progressive club like the Mariners.
“One of the things that attracted me to the club was the opportunity to share my experience with a young playing group.
“I am also looking forward to playing football in one of the most beautiful places in the world.”
Garcia played 20 times for Spain along with stints with Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool.
