Spain’s economy grew by 3.2 percent in 2015, according to advanced data published Friday by Spain’s Statistical Office (INE).
This figure is the best since 2007 and it is more than twofold the economic growth of a year earlier. Spain’s economy has been growing for two consecutive years growing by 1.4 percent in 2014.
The Spanish government had predicted a 3.3 percent growth for 2015, while the European Commission had predicted a 3.1 percent growth. Most recent predictions of the Bank of Spain and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were 3.2 percent.
The INE also reported that the economy grew by 0.8 percent between October and December when compared with the third quarter, which meant that the country’s economy has been growing for 10 consecutive quarters since the third quarter in 2013 when it first grew after years of recession.
Meanwhile, on a year-on-year basis, Spain’s economy grew by 3.5 percent from the fourth quarter in 2014 to the fourth one in 2015.
The INE will confirm the data on Feb. 25.
