Spain will take steps soon to sign a cultural agreement with Bangladesh for exchanging cultural activities between the two countries.
Spanish Ambassador to Bangladesh Eduardo de Laiglesia said this when he paid a courtesy call on Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor at his secretariat here on Tuesday.
The Cultural Affairs ministry sent a proposal to Spain last year for inking the cultural agreement between the two countries.
The minister said Bangladesh is working closely with different countries of Asia and Europe on various issues related to cultural affairs.
Pointing out the cultural interaction between Bangladesh and other European nations like France, the UK, Italy and the Netherlands, Noor said Bangladesh also wants to work with Spain on cultural exchange programme in widened area.
The minister put emphasis on translating literary works of both the countries into their respective languages.
Noting Spain and Bangladesh both have rich culture and heritage, the envoy said the cultural exchange programme will be benefiting for the people of two friendly nations.
