State Minister for Land Ministry Saifuzjaman Chowdhury Javed MP said , study under private university in Europe and America is most desirable for every students there and Bangladesh private universities will play important role of occupying leading position in higher education.
He said Southern University will also lead in Chittagong among the private universities . He disclosed it while addressing the farewell receptions to the passing out graduates under Civil Engineering faculty of the university at the auditorium of Chittgong Institute of Engineers on Saturday evening as Chief Guest. Departmental head of civil engineering Prof. Engr. Ali Ashraf presided over the function. Southern University Chairman and noted industrialist of Chittagong Alhaj Khalilur Rahman inaugurated the reception function. SU Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Ali , Pro-VC Dr. Sharifuzzaman were present in it as special guests.
In his inaugural speech Alhaj Khalilur Rahman said, there are huge demand of engineers in all sectors following the development of industrial enterprises in the country as the SU is committed to fulfill the demand of the industrial sectors through introducing the Engineering Faculty in the university.
Vice chancellor of SU congratulated the students passed in the last session. Founder of the SU Sarwar Jahan said Civil Engineering Deptt introduced in 2007 aimed at upgrading the faculty as global standard and SU will achieve their ultimate goal in coming days. 92 students completed graduation degree in Civil Engineering in this session, sources said.
Among others , Dean of Business faculty Dr. Abdul Muktadir, Prof. Mr. Ishrat Jahan, Vice chairman of SU Trusty Board Shafiquddin Ahmed, former VC Prof. Moin, Departmental heads of SU, officials of SU were present in it, a release said.
