Southern region of the country has become a safe haven for drug peddlers. Changing techniques, drug peddlers have been doing their brisk business without any obstacles in different parts of Khulna, Bagerhat and Satkhira districts. Anti drug drives are also conducted everyday in this region by different law enforcing agencies including RAB, police, DB and BGB. Recently members of the elite force RAB-6 arrested drug peddlers along with huge Phensedyls and Yaba pills from Khulna and Satkhira districts. In a recent drive, members of Khulna Metropolitan Police ( KMP) arrested four persons along with three kgs of hemp and some Yaba tablets from different parts of Khulna city. It was ascertained by Md. Some evil persons are informing by mentioning some fake names to the members of different Intelligence wings of the several law enforcing agencies including detective branch (DB), City special branch (CSB) and district special branch and National Security Intelligence (NSI) for making list of drug traders centering the previous enmity. As such actual drug traders and their finance givers-patrons are rescuing themselves from the arrest by the law enforcers, it is alleged. NCD, Khulna sources said, on March 19, 2019, under the supervision of the deputy director (DD) of Khulna Narcotics Control Directorate (NCD) Md. Rasheduzzaman, a special team led by its Inspector Parvin Akter conducted drives at different parts of the city and arrested three persons along with Yaba and Phensedyl. Later they were awarded punishment including jail and fine through a Mobile Court.
On March 17, 2019, a special team, led by the members of Khulna District DBs OC Tofayel Ahmed arrested two drug peddlers along with phensedyl from Rupsha toll plaza while a Suzuki Motorcycle was also seized from the drug traders, DB sources said.
Sources said, Drug peddling gangs are active in Khulna city and at Nine upazila areas of Khulna district. Drug peddlers are more active than the previous periods. Drug-addicts can get drugs easily if they expand their hands. Yaba, ganja (Hemp) and Indian contraband Phensedyl are being sold without any obstacles. Drug-addicts are implicating with different kind of crimes including snatching, stealing, robbery and killing without getting money for purchasing drugs. Several killings occurred in Khulna centering the supremacy over drug peddling, according to the police. But it is a matter of great strange that drug peddling can not be stopped by any means. Sources said, drives against drug sellers are conducted now and then, but result is zero as some influential persons , it is alleged. Selling and buying of drugs are now the common features of Khulna city and nine upazila areas of Khulna district.
Sources further said, the drug peddlers are so strong that they have been conducting their illegal business without any hesitation. On the other hand, young generation is destroying due to violent clutches of drugs.
It is alleged that different type of drugs are being sold at different places in the city. Near at Khulna Club, at Tootpara, Baniakhamar areas under Khulna Kotwali police station, Zoragate, Housing bazaar, Near T&T office, Goalkhali, Noyabati, Kashipur Padma gate, Khalishpur Industrial areas under Khalishpur police station, Sonadanga bus stand, New Market, Khanjahan Nagor, Sonadanga residential area under Sonadanga police station, Daulatpur Notun Rastar more, Railygate, Pabla Bonikpara, Pabla Dattobari, Chunnur Battala, Pabla Khan para, Pabla Bairagi para, Deana Jessore more,Deana Asader more and Deana Mukul Vandar and Daulatpur Anjuman road (Amtala intersection) area under Daulatpur police station, Arongghatabazar, Sholuabazar and Latabazar areas under Arongghata police station, Jabdipur, Badamtala, Shiromoni and Patherbazar areas under Khanjahan Ali police station under Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) in Khulna city, drug traders have been selling drugs at random.
According to sources, more than at 500 spots at different places under eight police stations in Khulna city, different type of drugs including Yaba, Ganja(Hemp) and Phensedyl are being sold and purchased without any obstruction. Besides, at different places of nine upazila areas in the district, drug peddling is going on unabated. in
A high official of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) said, stern action has been taking against the listed drug traders and their patrons, the culprits whatever may be their designations, no drug related persons will be spared, he added. # #
