A brilliant century by veteran all-rounder Tushar Imran guided Prime Bank South Zone to score 299 for 7 in 87.1 overs against Islami Bank East Zone on the first day of the four-day 4th round match of the 6th Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Sent into bat first, Prime Bank South Zone faced initial batting collapse losing two national coloured openers-Anamul Haque (6) and Shahriar Nafees (17) -cheaply for 44 runs in 16.4 overs, but former national cricketer Tushar Imran pairing with one down Fazle Mahmud repaired the early damage scoring 165 runs in the 3rd wicket stand enabling the team to score a fighting total.
Number four batsman Tushar Imran, who regained his rhythm in the season, hammered a polished innings of 130 runs off 221 balls featuring 15 fours and one six while Fazle Mahmud contributed 161-ball 89 runs, hitting 11 fours and a six.
Top order national coloured batsman Mohammad Mithun made a patient 56-ball 22 runs with three hits to the fence while national opener Soumya Sarkar, lower oder Nurul Hasan and Delwar Hossain scored four runs each for the South Zone.
Pacer Mohammad Saifuddin and Khaled Ahmed grabbed two wickets each conceding 40 and 67 runs respectively while Abu Jayed and all-rounder Shohag Gazi took one wicket each conceding 49 and 65 runs respectively.
