Domestic run machine Tushar Imran scored a scintillating 217 followed by Shahriar Nafees’s superb unbeaten 171 saw, South Zone piled up a mammoth 701 for 8 in their first innings against Central Zone at the close play on the second day of four-day Bangladesh Cricket League held on Monday at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground-3.
South Zone resuming at overnight 325 for 2 with Tushar Imran on 101 unbeaten and Mohammad Mithun on 127 not out, one thought Central Zone bowlers will stage a fight back.
But Tushar Imran in insatiable mood, it was another bashing of the Central zone bowlers as they were flayed all around the ground. When the second day’s play was called off by then South Zone has added another 376 runs to take their tally to 701 for 8.
It was again Tushar Imran from his overnight 101 who went on notch his double century while test discard Shahriar Naffess sent warning for the selectors with a superb knock they made a mockery of Central Zone bowlers.
Tushar 217 consisted of 21 eye catching boundaries and he took only 340 balls to reach this landmark. The overnight batsman Mithun from his 127 could only add four runs.
But Tushar found Shahriar Nafees in a great touch as they added 215 runs for the fourth wicket partnership.
Shariar was in sublime mood as he remained unbeaten at 170 off only 238 balls studded with 14 superb boundaries and five towering sixers.
AL Amin with 35 and Nazmul Islam with 25 not out were the other notable scorers for South Zone.
Shuvagato Homs with 3 for 202 and tanbir Hayder with 2 for 65 were the main wicket takers for Central Zone.
